June is a time of celebration, reflection, and advocacy as we honour Pride Month. It’s a month where we acknowledge the progress made towards equality and recognise the work still required to achieve true inclusivity. At Moo & Yoo, we believe that beauty and fashion should be a space where we can celebrate individuality, self-expression and diversity.
The Importance of Inclusivity in Beauty and Fashion
The beauty and fashion industries are powerful platforms for self-expression. However, for too long, they have also been spaces where narrow definitions of beauty and style have dominated. It is crucial that we expand these definitions to include all identities, sizes, ethnicities, genders, and abilities. Inclusivity is not just a trend; it’s a necessity.
Celebrating Diversity and Inclusivity
At Moo & Yoo, we recognise and celebrate everyone. We showcase different races, body types, gender identities, and abilities, creating products that cater to all needs and preferences. Inclusivity lies beyond representation; it involves generating an environment in which everyone feels welcome and respected. It also means ensuring our workspace is a supportive and inclusive space for all employees. We want our customers to know that when they choose Moo & Yoo, they are supporting a brand that values every individual.
Supporting Mental Health with MindOut
This Pride Month, we are thrilled to be partnering with MindOut, a mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people with experience of mental health issues. MindOut works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ communities and to provide a safe space where their identities are recognised and understood.
To support this vital cause, we are donating 5% of all online sales during Pride Month to MindOut. Here are some statistics that highlight the importance of their work:
- Half of LGBTQ+ people (52%) said that they have experienced depression in the last year.
- One in eight LGBTQ+ people ages 18-24 (13%) said they’ve attempted to take their own life in the last year.
- Almost half of trans people (48%) have thought about taking their own life in the last year, and 31% of LGB people who are not trans said the same.
We believe in the vision of MindOut and we are committed to supporting their mission to create a world where the mental health of LGBTQ+ communities is a priority, free from stigma, and respected.
Pride and Beyond
While Pride Month is a significant time to highlight these issues, your commitment to inclusivity and diversity should not stop there. It’s a continuous journey that requires ongoing effort and dedication. As we celebrate Pride Month, let’s remember that inclusivity and diversity are at the heart of what makes us unique and beautiful. Be proud to support the LGBTQ+ community, not just this month, but every month.
Happy Pride Month!
Love,
The Moo & Yoo Team x
