This month on Saturday 22^nd we will be celebrating Earth Day 2023! With the environment being an integral part of our business, we are extremely passionate about sustainability and are constantly looking for new innovate ways in which we can be more ethical as a business and as individuals. Earth Day is essential to raising awareness surrounding environmental movements and taking accountability for our impact on the planet. 

Whilst working as a hair stylist and salon owner, Moo & Yoo co-founder Suzie became frustrated that many of the salon products she was using were harsh and irritated her skin. She also became increasingly exasperated by the lack of sustainability and that plastic containers were the norm in the hair industry. It was clear that despite her best efforts, very few would listen or make a change based on her voice alone.

Whilst there were some good options out there, all came from overseas and the carbon impact negated any benefits. In the absence of anything suitable being available in the UK, Suzie and her daughter Olivia joined forces and decided to create their own solution, bringing gentle and natural products in fully recyclable glass bottles and jars to UK salons, hotels and customers. Olivia was keen to be involved, with her passion for sustainability and a business degree behind her she was up for the challenge. Before long the whole family had joined in the journey and Moo & Yoo was born.

As a family, we always try to make a conscious effort to be more mindful of our consumer habits and the impact we have on our planet. Our family values soon became our business values, which is why at Moo & Yoo we constantly strive to be as sustainable as possible. We always aim to use the most natural ingredients we can from sustainable and renewable sources, as well as glass and recyclable packaging. We plant a tree for every online order so we are actively offsetting carbon emissions created through delivery. We are vegan, cruelty free and of course our products are not tested on any animals.

We want to encourage everyone to make more conscious decisions when it comes to consumer habits, especially when it comes to plastic consumption! Making small changes really do add up and make the world of difference. 

• Planting 2 Trees Per Online Order

For all orders placed over the weekend where Earth Day falls we will be planting an additional tree per online order. Trees are essential for the well-being of all living creatures. Aside from cleaning the air we breathe or water we drink, they create a space for biodiversity and natural habitats to form. We are honoured to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model.

• 10% Off Earth Day Discount

To encourage people to purchase products that are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional self-care products we will be offering a 10% discount for all customers over this Earth Day weekend, keep an eye out for the code! Traditional self-care products are heavy in filler chemicals, plastic and usually green-washing. We want to challenge this and prove you can have really high quality luxurious products that don't compromise the environment.

• Beach Clean Up

We will be joining an arranged beach clean up on some of our local beaches in East Lothian on Earth Day. It is so important to keep nature as you find it, litter can damage eco-systems and can harm local wildlife so please make sure you don’t leave anything behind!
