How to Style Naturally Wavy Hair Without Heat

Understanding Wavy Hair (Type 2)

Wavy hair typically falls under the Type 2 hair category, with a subtle to more defined S-shape wave. You might have:

2a hair - fine and loose waves
2b hair - medium waves with more texture
2c hair - thicker, coarser waves with occasional ringlets

Plopping: Wrap damp hair in a cotton t-shirt or a microfibre towel to help define your waves as they dry.
Braiding or Twisting: Try loose braids or twists while your hair dries, then shake them out for soft, natural waves.
The Pineapple: Gather hair in a loose high ponytail at night to protect your waves while sleeping.

Top tip: Avoid touching your hair while it dries—this helps prevent frizz and keeps your waves defined.
