When looking at what ingredients we use with our products, we are extremely picky and will not settle when it comes to quality and sustainability. We are constantly striving to find the most natural ingredients, preservatives and new technology that make our products to the highest standard. We have an unwavering commitment to buying and sourcing our ingredients ethically, recycling and only partnering with companies that share our values.
When we started Moo & Yoo we were known as Moo Hair, and we only had a range of 7 hair care products. Our main focus was sourcing ingredients that would not only perform on hair but would be gentle and nourishing to your skin. When researching we came across Marula oil and read all about the wonderful benefits this oil brings to your skin and hair, making it the perfect ingredient for your scalp, hair and skin. We instantly fell in love with this miracle oil for its many benefits and knew it would be a staple ingredient for our range.
The Marula tree grows in northern Namibia and produce fruit which contain a nut where the Marula oil is extracted from. Marula oil is rich in antioxidants, fatty acids and amino acids which all work together to hydrate, moisturise, fight environmental toxins and can help fight sun and heat damage from UV rays. It possesses anti-aging properties and is occlusive so minimises water loss without being greasy. This made Marula oil the perfect ingredient to nourish the hair and keep the hair in good condition while protecting it from any further damage. As it is not a greasy ingredient yet super moisturising it also made it the perfect ingredient for all hair types, meaning our products would benefit those with oily, normal or dry hair of all textures and colours. After using our products lots of people comment on how soft and shiny their hair is, this is thanks to our Marula oil!
When sourcing our Marula oil, we were adamant that it was sourced ethically with natural resources being preserved and not exploited. We also wanted to ensure that those who worked for the company supplying this wonder oil were paid fairly for their work, these terms were a must for us. We are proud to say our Marula oil is sourced from Marula trees owned by locals in northern Namibia, providing economic opportunities to many African women who share the rewards that the oil generates. The local women collect the fruit when they do not have other commitments and are all paid individually with support from a representative to ensure they are paid fairly for their work. The oil is 100% virgin pure Marula oil. It is wild harvested, hand-selected and cold-pressed with no added chemicals so is sulphate, paraben, phthalate and synthetic-fragrance free. Marula oil empowers entire communities for whom the harvesting of the Marula nut is a vital economic lifeline.
Here at Moo & Yoo we are really trying to encourage conscious consumer habits. A big part of this is knowing where your products come from, what goes into them and the ethical integrity behind the brand.
