Pride Month is a celebration of identity, visibility, equality, and community. It is also a moment to reflect on the progress that has been made for LGBTQ+ rights, while recognising the challenges that many people still face today.
At Moo & Yoo, we believe that beauty, wellbeing, and self-care should always feel inclusive, safe, and empowering. As a Scottish family-run UK haircare brand built on values of kindness, authenticity, and conscious living, Pride Month is deeply aligned with what we stand for.
This year, we are proudly supporting MindOut by donating 5% of our profits throughout the month to help fund their vital mental health services for LGBTQ+ communities.
This Pride Month, we wanted to share more about what Pride represents, why it matters, and how small acts of support and allyship can create meaningful change.
What Is Pride Month?
Pride Month takes place every June and honours the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating diversity, identity, and the ongoing fight for equality.
The origins of Pride date back to the Stonewall Uprising in New York in 1969, a pivotal moment in LGBTQ+ history that sparked global movements for visibility and human rights.
Today, Pride is many things at once:
- A celebration of identity and self-expression
- A protest against discrimination and inequality
- A reminder that inclusion and safety still cannot be taken for granted
- A chance for communities and businesses to show meaningful support
While colourful parades and events are often associated with Pride, the heart of Pride Month is about people feeling accepted, respected, and safe to be themselves.

Why Pride Month Is Still Important?
Although society has made progress in many areas, LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face mental health challenges, discrimination, and barriers to support.
Research consistently shows higher rates of anxiety, depression, isolation, and mental health struggles within LGBTQ+ communities, particularly among young people and those without safe support systems.
This is why organisations like MindOut are so important.
True inclusion is not performative. It is ongoing, compassionate, and rooted in action.
As a business, we believe self-care should support emotional wellbeing as much as physical wellbeing. The rituals we create around caring for ourselves, whether that is taking time for a healthy hair routine or simply finding moments of calm in a busy day, can have a powerful impact on confidence and mental wellbeing.

Who Are MindOut?
MindOut is a mental health charity run by and for LGBTQ+ people.
Their work focuses on providing inclusive mental health support, advocacy, peer support, and wellbeing services specifically tailored to LGBTQ+ communities.
MindOut offers:
- Mental health advocacy and advice
- Online support groups and peer mentoring
- Crisis support and wellbeing services
- Safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals to feel heard and supported
- Campaigns to improve mental health awareness and inclusivity
Their work is compassionate, practical, and genuinely life-changing for many people who may otherwise struggle to access understanding support.
At Moo & Yoo, we are proud to contribute to their work during Pride Month.

Why Supporting LGBTQ+ Mental Health Matters
Mental health support should never feel inaccessible or unsafe.
For many LGBTQ+ individuals, experiences of exclusion, bullying, rejection, or discrimination can significantly affect confidence and wellbeing.
Supporting charities like MindOut helps to:
- Create safe and inclusive support networks
- Improve access to mental health services
- Reduce feelings of isolation
- Encourage open conversations around identity and wellbeing
- Build communities rooted in kindness and understanding
Even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

How Businesses Can Support Pride Authentically
Consumers today are increasingly thoughtful about the brands they support. People want to know that businesses genuinely care about inclusion, sustainability, and social responsibility beyond marketing campaigns.
At Moo & Yoo, we believe authentic support means aligning actions with values all year round.
Here are a few ways businesses can support Pride meaningfully:
1. Support LGBTQ+ Organisations Financially
Donations, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives directly support communities and charities doing important work.
Our June partnership with MindOut is one small way we hope to contribute positively.
2. Create Inclusive Spaces
Whether online, in salons, or in workplaces, people should feel welcomed, respected, and represented.
3. Listen and Learn
Inclusion is an ongoing process. Listening to LGBTQ+ voices and experiences matters.
4. Avoid Performative Messaging
True allyship should feel thoughtful and consistent, not trend-led or temporary.
5. Prioritise Wellbeing and Kindness
Wellbeing, confidence, and self-expression are deeply connected. Brands can play a positive role by creating environments and products that help people feel comfortable being themselves.

Pride Is About Humanity, Community and Care
Pride Month reminds us that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and accepted exactly as they are.
At Moo & Yoo, we are proud to support a future where beauty and wellbeing feel inclusive, conscious, and kind.
Throughout June, 5% of our profits will be donated to MindOut to help support their essential mental health services for LGBTQ+ communities.
We hope this Pride Month encourages more conversations around kindness, inclusion, mental wellbeing, and authentic support, not just in June, but throughout the year.
